At the 12U level of girls lacrosse, we expand on the basics of the game and teach our student/athletes about the different field positions; i.e., attack, defense, middie and goalie.

Each student/athlete rotates through each position in order to learn the aspect of the game in depth and grow as a lacrosse player. At this level, basic lacrosse skills are reinforced with the understanding of good sportsmanship and team play. Line drills, stick handling, the concept of checking, face offs, throwing exercises, and scooping skills (i.e., ground balls) are taught, reviewed and practiced.

Warm up exercises, stretching drills, and running are important to build endurance and confidence. To supplement these skills a dedicated area where shooting skills can utilized and polished should be implemented.

Girls Safety Equipment
All field players (everyone but the goalie) must wear a mouth guard with no protruding tabs and ASTM approved women's regulation lacrosse goggles while on the field during games AND practices.

Objectives

Be able to cradle the ball while jogging around the box without dropping the ball.
Be able to throw and catch the ball between 2 lines 20 feet apart.
Be able scoop the ball at half speed at least three times.
Know how to throw overhand pass with either hand.
Understand the basics of playing all positions and the basics of lacrosse.

Practice Days and Times
Practice will be twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on Tuesday, September 12, 2019, from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM on the softball field and will continue through early December.
